My Electronics Technology Background:
As I often say, I’ve been making things since I was this high. As a kid, I’d make toys out of wood, nails, string, anything I could find in my dad’s scrap pile or around the workshop. As a young teenager I took all the shop courses at school, wood, metal, plastic, and fell in love with electronics technology. Most of the jobs I’ve held have had something to do with making things. In my mid twenties, I earned a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and have been working in the industry in some form of Product Management role for almost 30 years now. For the past seven years I’ve been operating Creator Consulting and helping entrepreneurs and small business with their technology development.
What I’ve Seen:
Throughout my career I’ve seen many companies and individuals fail in their attempts to bring their great products and ideas to market. Time and time again, these companies and individuals would expend great effort and finances only to fall short. In almost every case it was due to a lack of understanding of what it really takes to get a product to market. The primary issue seemed to be misused resources. Spending time, effort, and money on the wrong things at the wrong time, while not identifying and addressing critical items in the development path.
What I Offer:
In this Blog I intend to provide insight into the development process with articles, tools, and resources to assist you with figuring out what you need to do, the resources you’ll need along the way, how long you should expect it to take, and most importantly, what the realistic projected costs are. I welcome your comments and input.
